Light Reflectance Value (LRV) is a measurement of how much light a surface reflects. This ranges from 0% for black to 100% for white. Does your door get any amount of direct sunlight? You should be aware that door manufacturers and contractors often have terms and conditions including non-warranty coverage points for doors painted black or extremely dark. The heat they absorb can cause all sorts of undesirous affects, including fitment issues and failures in the door materials itself. In direct sunlight and depending on intensity, black paint can reach temperatures as high as 160°F! For better performance, consider a LRV no higher than about 55%.
